IN OUR SCHOOL...

Berchmans School is a place where capacities, talents and likes can be expressed with no exceptions, but no only talents, also is a place where you can find events that invite you to learn new things and to have tips to have an easier school development or to act to better. It is important to know that in many cases, the school has not a common interest. Having into account this, is important to know that like an additional aspect, each region develop activities, corresponding to their capacities, and the place they are.

 In Berchmans preschool there are some punctual interest, during the school year they develop activities like; Halloween, San Valentine’s Day, Berchmans Week, English Day, The kids day and some other activities, they have aprocess of bilingualism, in their journals, they have teachers that make activities, to prepare the children to be a fine Berchmans in future but always helping those children to amplify the knowledge to be prepared and to act to better in their futures.

In our school primary, they always do their activities, knowing that be a Berchmans is to “be more to better serve”, following the life example of San Juan Berchmans, that’s how they make their academic,, spiritual, sporting, artistic, recreational and cultural activities, they have some campaigns, to save the nature of the school, referring to animals, and flowers, also to reduce, reuse and recycle.

As a final aspect, we know that Berchmans high school is English immersion, college fair, flag- raising, pastoral, artistic rock, Tuesdays of family, pre- ICFES, Berchmans week, Eucharist, pedagogical outputs.

But any Berchmans know that school is a place where we built our personality and our future day by day, is a place where we enter to learn and go out to serve, it is where our friendship grows up and our second home

SPECIAL WEEK

The Berchmans week is a big event and one of the most important activities that the school make for the students, parents, teachers, and generally to all the school community, we enjoy it to much, and all the year we wait for it, all the teachers enjoy it to because they are part of the groups, and parents also like to look their songs making different activities. The ones to win the Berchmans week feels to much proud of the work, effort and dedication put in this event; the 11 grade’s student feels more proud because is his final week, but they also work as a club, not only 11 grade.

Four days of creativity, and a lot of energy, putting by the Berchmans students, in the artistic, sporting and academic activities development. Like all the activities in school is a week where every students can show their talents, they can dance, sing, play any sport, paint, and show their knowledge, everything to represent a group.

In this activity, we apply many values, like the group work, the fellowship, the respect, honesty, leadership and some others, the think is that this event in not only to have a great time or to fail classes, is an event that helps the school community to learn about the topic of the year, and to integrate and to find people with your same interests.

In primary and high school, the Berchmans week is a little similar, but in the preschool they make activities according to their age and their knowledge.

ART ACTIVITIES

In the art classes can work with different materials for example in painting classes we are working  during this  period using different materials , that we have to buy, we are working in an interesting thing, we are related the arte whit some cultural aspects of  different cultures  in the world. The kind of music that the students work during the two first periods it has the same objective; they worked whit different regions like and some Colombian music. In theater class the students are preparing preparing a play using different components. Finally in the dance classes they are working in a most freeway, doing choreographies with the music they like the most, dividing in little groups. The result of this art activities are demonstrated in different events that the school prepares to show the school community the talents that the students have, this activities calls many people. Like parents, old students and the students in the school, it acts also like an invitation to the Berchmans students to start to practice those activities, not only in their classes, also after the school day. In our school we have a  fortress, referring to the art classrooms that are in perfect conditions, and referring too to the teachers that are people in the capacity of teach us they are studied people and they always help us to understand what they explain in classes.

I think that these activities are important in our school because they help students to have a art side and can express their feelings.

ASH WEDNESDAY

This Wednesday, February 22nd, it was celebrate in Berchmans School the Ash Wednesday, the school community get together to initiate the lent, that meaning 40 days before the Easter weak, all the community participate of this celebration in a different way depending of the place they are.
The boys and girls of the primary celebrate the Ash Wednesday, whit a short communitarian liturgy in the coliseum, the students of the preschool; receive the ash in the teatrino of the school by the school pastoral director, and the boys and girls of high school receive the ash in a reflection, that was make in the different class rooms by the teachers. The collaborators of the school also had a way to celebrate this event; by going to the community they consider the most adequate.
 This day is so important in our school because it is the signal and a time to change and prepare to the Easter week, is a time to change our defects and to be prepared to celebrate this week, during the lent in the school we make different refection and prays to have a significant change. As a conclusion the message that this experience let in us is that "Jesus love us" and that he is here to help us to make a change.
This journal was directed by the school pastoral director and the different Jesuits that we have in the school.
In our school this liturgics celebrations are so important because of the school politic and mission.

FONOMIMIC

This is a big event that the students to enjoy, because they prepare with to much care, this call to much people like parents, old students, teacher, friends and more. This dances gives a lot of points if you win it you going to obtain a big percent of advance than the others teams. This dances are prepare for students since 9 grade to 11 grade.  

The fonimimic is evaluated for the school art teachers, managers and others teachers depending of the songs, the students are so dedicated so the fight to win it.

Each group prepare the costume, the songs, the choreographer, and all the things necessary to it, they need money to cover all the buys.  No only the students participated also teachers to.  Each song  of the fonomimic  have to be approve for the judges and is like a remix of the people of the team and the songs are In contexts with the topic of the group . is the bigger event in the week because it makes the people have a great time and each person support the team that it like.

There are different topics in each group, so the fonomimic is based in each one,  and this last year the topics was different countries in the word and his special parties, this topics was brazil, Spain, Mexico and Italy. it is a great event so if you like to come you need to be part of the berchmans family.

ART

In the paint class the students is do the mask on cultures world. Materials used are cold porcelain on a wooden base and using water for gluing the parts of the figure.  In music class are playing different instruments. In the dance class are doing choreography of different genres of music.

SPORTS IN THE SCHOOL

In Berchmans School there are many sports that students and teachers can practice (soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, fist ball etc.) there are also many options to practice those sports, in a first option there are the sports classes, and also the student can stay practicing the sports after the school day.
In our school the sports are one of the most common likes between students, teachers, and school families, it is an activity that calls everyone to support the school. A fortress that we have in Berchmans School is that the places where the sports take place are in good order and also the people that teach us the sports are very trained and prepared.

BERCHMANS WEEK

The berchmans week is a event that calls students, teachers, parents and others to have a great time, doing different activities that get together all the people participing in those.
In this weeks participate all th students in deferent groups that are created depending in the topic that the people choose; there are 4 groups in the entire school to have a name a color and a topic, to difference the teams the mangers give us different color shirts.

ART CLASSES

In berchmans school are some students that stay in the school in the afternoon doing some art activities like, music, dance, theater, paint class, this activities are expose in the pe;a artistica, christmas concert.
in this activities the students show there talents. there are class room from diferents arts.

THE ROBOTIC GROUP

Berchmans School is a place where students can express their likes and capacities; in this case I’m going to took about the activities of the robotic group in our school, this group stay in the school every Tuesdays and Thursdays after the school day, working in different activities associated to robotic.
In this moment the robotic group is conforming by 10 students of the grades 5 and 7, in these journals they prepare different acts or presentations.
Some years ago, the robotic group was not so recognized in the school, but now they are working hard to do what they like, the clear sample of this, is that on March 9, this group has a competition in Bogota, against other very important crews related to this topic. We hope they have luck representing our school.
